Semitrailer Overturns on Highway 101

News sources have stated that a Safeway semitrailer was involved in an accident last Thursday morning near Tompkins Hill Road.

The official announcement released by the California Highway Patrol shows that a 51-year-old man from Modesto was driving a tractor-trailer on the northbound lanes of Highway 101 when his vehicle unexpectedly drifted out of his lane and into a parked Honda Civic, which was unoccupied at the time of the collision. The impact forced the truck to continue travelling northbound but since the man lost grip of the wheel, the vehicle hit a dirt embankment and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.

The collision didn’t result in any serious injuries but kept the road closed for more than 13 hours, according to officials from the California Highway Patrol.

Up to this moment, the causes behind this accident were not yet disclosed.

3 Semitrailer Crash Leaves 5 Injured

Three semitrailers were involved in a multi-vehicle accident on Friday, which left four people injured and one critically injured. A semi jackknifed during snowy conditions, on eastbound I-84 in Box Elder County, then hit another semitrailer. Both trucks were in or near the emergency lane, when another semitrailer also jackknifed, and slid into the first accident.

One of the truck drivers was a 34 year old man from Salt Lake City, who was taken to a local hospital, with face and head injuries. A 67 year old woman driving the other semitrailer, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with chest injuries. Her husband who was a passenger, was air flown to the hospital with critical injuries involving his chest and back. The third semi truck driver was a 52 year old man from Virginia, who was treated at the scene. His passenger was taken to a local hospital, so he can be treated for a back injury.

A further investigation will take place to pin point the exact cause of the accident.

IOnRoad Develops App to End Distracted Driving

Media sources reported that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issued a statement saying too many motorists are using their smartphones while driving, making roads more dangerous for everyone.

The CEO of iOnRoad manufacturer Picitup, Alon Atsmon, thinks that the best solution is to have more motorists utilizing smartphones while they drive, but for safety reasons. “If you see the US census data on traffic accidents, you’ll that 20 percent of crashes are caused by distracted driving. It’s one of the only traffic causes that’s on the rise- and the main reason for that is the use of smartphones while driving,” Atsmon claimed. “We offer a smarter way to solve the problem- not by recommendations and bans but through the smartphone.”

The company created an app for smartphones that provides crash warnings, alerts the driver when their car drifts out of the lane and is currently in the process of adding an option to read text messages aloud and instantly initiates the speakerphone function on the phone when a call is received. Motorists can mount their phone to the dashboard or windshield, similar to a GPS, to use the app. The app utilizes the smartphone’s camera to monitor the vehicle’s lane position and the distance between it and the vehicle in front of the driver. It then provides that information to the driver in real time.

Atsmon stated, “Let’s take this number one problem and turn it into the number one solution. Our approach is to turn the smartphone into a collision warning system.”

He is resourceful, virtuous, dissatisfied with the reality, so he desires to cast off the shackle to become a hero, and to live a meaningful life.

Before long had the story began, one Saturday, Aunt Polly asked Tom to brush the enclosure as a punishment. But in Tom’s heart was full of his own plan and how to enjoy that day outright. As expected, he just brushed it for a while. Just then, he thought of an idea which could only come out from his thought.
