Some of my clients I see just 2 times a week, for these ladies I tell them to make sure they are working out at least one more day away from me. When this conversation comes up many of them say: Well, I walk the neighboorhood after dinner with my friend, is that enough?
No, no it isn’t.
If you’ve been regularly following a good fat burning workout program then you’re body is getting accustomed to really working out. That means that simply walking the streets for half an hour isn’t going to push it. To your body it’s not exercise, it’s a “walk in the park.”
However, if exercise is completely new to you then yes, this is a great place to start but you have to make sure that you’re continuing to push harder with your workouts. Start off walking, then try to jog a little walk a little, then get up to doing sprints for a short time then bringing it back down to a walk.
These are called intervals and they are amazing at increasing your cardio health and burning body fat. Another good option is a circuit training workout. But if you’ve never done one before talk to your trainer about putting a great one together that includes amazing fat burning exercises.
If you truly enjoy your walks, I would definitely not eliminate them, use them as your time to rest your mind, let go of the day and relax. If you want to continue your walks then try to make them a bit more intense with ankle weights, or holding hand weights. Try 2-5 pounds in each hand.
Also remember that just because you’ve completed a great workout doesn’t leave you room to eat whatever you want. If burning fat is your goal, then sticking to a clean diet is the way to make that goal come true!
Now, get moving!
